Hollywood can’t stop shilling Pedro Pascal, and it’s getting kind of annoying.
Why has it suddenly become a requirement that Pedro Pascal be in every other movie?
It feels like every time I look at entertainment news I’m getting smacked upside the head by this effeminate-looking mediocre actor who looks like Charles Bronson if he supplemented estrogen.
I’m not going to pretend that I didn’t enjoy The Mandalorian, and I’m not calling him a bad actor or anything, but all this sudden love for Pedro seems kind of forced. Go look on sites like Reddit, whenever he’s mentioned people are practically tripping over themselves to blow him like he’s the second coming of Charlie Chaplin. Pedro Pascal is okay, but he’s nothing special. I feel like you could have put almost anybody in the role of Mando and they would have done just as good if not better than Pedro.
What’s even more confusing is that they keep trying to push him as some paragon of masculinity. No, really, look at this shit. Are we being serious here?
I get that Hollywood wants to move away from the macho tough guy icons of old like Arnold or Chuck Norris, but now you’re just being ridiculous. Pedro Pascal looks like a damn weenie:
He looks like a campy gay guy. Is he actually gay? I don’t know and I don’t care, but he’s definitely not masculine. Even gay people are looking at this and saying “Yeah, no.”
If you want to move away from the so-called “toxic masculinity” stuff and promote male celebrities who are more compassionate and in touch with liberal sensibilities then whatever, but Pedro Pascal is one of the worst possible choices for this. You could have went with someone like Alan Ritchson. I’m not gay at all, but any woman who doesn’t find Alan Ritchson hot is probably gay:
If you want to push someone as an alternative to toxic masculinity (God I hate that phrase), Alan is your guy. He’s a decent actor, he’s rugged but still soft enough to not look like a complete bad boy, and he’s pretty damn liberal in his political views from what I’ve seen. Plus, Reddit loves him, and we all know that Reddit is a totally accurate representation of the average person. I wouldn’t mind seeing Alan Ritchson in more movies and shows. He’s a way better image of masculinity than Pedro. Hell, the actor who played Pedro in Napoleon Dynamite is a better image of masculinity than Pedro Pascal. Anyone is a better image of masculinity than Pedro Pascal.
Like I said, I’m not necessarily hating on Pedro. I don’t think he’s a bad actor (the new Fantastic Four movie was surprisingly enjoyable), he’s just not great, and the fact that he’s suddenly being shilled all over the place makes me question just how much of his support is actually organic and not just astroturfing. Especially when you have publications trying to promote him as an icon of masculinity. I don’t see the big deal, to me he’s just another actor who had a couple of popular roles that could have been filled by almost anyone. He’s not exceptionally talented, and I don’t get why the media is suddenly pimping him as hard as they are.
You know what, fuck it, since he’s already everywhere else he might as well be here too. Since I have no idea where the hell Frosty’s been I’m throwing Pedro in there. All future Frosty articles will be written by Pedro Pascal.
