We’ve Revamped Rantlister!

We’ve revamped Rantlister!

When I first brought Rantlister back, the plan was fairly simple. I wanted to use the site primarily as an archive for old material from its original run, while occasionally publishing new stuff through features like iRant. It was basically going to be a place where we preserved a little piece of internet history and gave people somewhere to scream into the void whenever the mood struck them.

Well, plans change.

We’ve decided to take Rantlister in a slightly different direction. The archival stuff isn’t going anywhere, and I still plan on digging up old articles whenever I find something worth bringing back from the dead. Going forward though, we’re going to put a lot more emphasis on publishing new content from a regular group of writers. Rantlister will remain focused primarily on rants, commentary, complaints, stupid arguments, irritating experiences, and the various other things that piss people off enough to sit down and write about them. It’ll have its own identity separate from AJnet Magazine, with a looser atmosphere and a wider variety of voices.

We’ve already got a slew of regular contributors lined up, including some familiar AJnet Magazine favorites that you already know and love, like my homie Lanzar, Frosty Mugg, and my CFO Stephanie.

There are some other writers joining the party too, including a few people you haven’t met yet. Everybody gets their own little corner of the site, their own style, and their own assortment of grievances. Some contributors will be more serious, some will be more comedic, and some will probably just be fucking weird. That’s part of what I want Rantlister to become.

Most importantly, we’re also looking for writers.

When AJnet Magazine relaunched back in May, we did away with guest submissions. AJnet had grown into something with a pretty specific editorial structure, publishing schedule, and lineup of regular features, and accepting random guest pieces didn’t really fit what we were doing anymore. Anyone who still wanted to send us a rant was encouraged to submit it to Rantlister’s iRant feature instead, and that hasn’t changed. If you’ve got one particular thing you want to bitch about without making some long-term commitment, send it to iRant.

But now there’s another option.

Rantlister has room for new regular contributors. Could one of those new regular contributors be YOU?!

Hey, maybe!

The idea is pretty straightforward. If you like writing and you’ve got enough opinions, grievances, stories, or general bullshit rattling around inside your head to contribute on a somewhat regular basis, we want to hear from you. Regular contributors will have their own author profile on Rantlister, complete with a bio and an archive of everything they’ve written for the site. You don’t need to write every week or turn this into a second job either. We’re looking for people who can occasionally contribute something entertaining and bring their own voice to the site.

See this page if you’re interested in becoming a contributor to Rantlister.

You also don’t need to sound like me, Stephanie, Frosty, or anyone else already writing for us. In fact, I’d prefer that you didn’t. Half the fun of having multiple contributors is seeing how different people approach the same basic concept of being irritated by something. One person might write a thoughtful argument about some irritating social trend, while someone else might spend 700 words screaming about the jackass who keeps leaving his shopping cart in the middle of the parking lot.

Both have a home on Rantlister.

Unlike AJnet Magazine, which has only the highest of standards, at Rantlister any jerk off can become a contributor. Perhaps you (yes, YOU) could be one of those jerk offs!

Okay, there are some standards. You need to be able to form coherent sentences, and whatever you submit should ideally be interesting enough that another human being would voluntarily read it. We’re not running a creative writing MFA program here though. If you can write something entertaining, have an actual personality, and understand that the entire point of Rantlister is to have some fun bitching about things, you’re already most of the way there.

I’m excited about what Rantlister is becoming because it fills a space that AJnet Magazine really doesn’t anymore. AJnet has become a fairly structured publication with established series, schedules, recurring writers, and a lot of moving parts behind the scenes. Rantlister can be scruffier, experiment more, bring in new people, resurrect weird old shit from the past, and publish somebody’s rant about grocery store layouts right next to an article about some forgotten piece of 2000s internet culture.

As 2026 winds down, we at the AJnet Organization have much more planned for 2027. Rantlister is only one part of it, but it’s quickly becoming a much bigger part than I originally expected when I dragged the thing back onto the internet.

So if you’ve ever thought about writing something for one of our sites, this is probably your best opportunity.

If I was you (and thank fucking God I’m not, you damn slob), I’d get in while this thing is still on the ground floor. Otherwise you’re going to regret it. You already have enough regrets in life, don’t add another one by missing out on this opportunity of a lifetime.

Go write something, jerk off.
