Fuck false positivity and hugboxes

Positive vibes only, guys!

I can’t stand people who need to have their every opinion and belief reaffirmed by everyone around them.

The modern internet is a giant shithole, and one of the biggest reasons why is the influx of crybaby pussies turning communities into safe spaces where everybody has to have the same opinions all of the time and nobody can question or debate anybody. God forbid somebody has their views challenged.

The art of discourse and discussion is dead. Nobody wants to have civilized and sensible conversation about issues, they just want to be told that they’re right. When they start losing the argument, they resort to blocking or banning their opponent, then run back off to their safe space echo chamber where everyone agrees with them and they all reassuringly pat each other on their collective asses and complain about the “toxic” people. Because seeing someone else’s point of view and being respectful is just too damn hard.

People can’t even properly debate anymore. Online debates nowadays are less about facts and more about blindly parroting their party’s talking points without really understanding anything about those points. Why are those points good? What do they actually mean? Who the fuck cares, the other side is wrong. Why are they wrong? They just are, okay? Now listen to the same talking points I just threw at you, reworded just a bit. You’re backing out? Ha, I win!

I hear some of you right now saying, “Yeah, fuck those liberal snowflakes!” You retards are part of the problem too. Trump supporters have become just as sensitive as the liberals they’re always making fun of. I’ve said plenty of times that, even though I don’t like the guy, I think the media is way too harsh on Big Don. But that doesn’t mean criticism of him is unwarranted. The media blindly hates on Trump, but the MAGA crowd blindly dickrides him. I’m not sure which side is easier to rile up, they’re both foaming at the mouth lunatics.

It’s not just political opinions either. People can’t take even an ounce of criticism without having a mental breakdown. Half of Reddit is just people crying victim and whining about the slightest of perceived microagressions against them. 20 years ago people would have had no problem telling these crybabies to stfu and get over themselves, but in this day and age where everyone seems to have PTSD or some other mental illness we’re not allowed to say shit. Instead we’re supposed to give them a hug, hand them a lollipop, then pat them on their ass and send them on their merry little way back to Fuckoff Land where tampons grow on trees and nobody hurts anyone’s feelers.

Years ago I tried my hand at streaming on Twitch. You can read about my experience here. One thing I neglected to mention was that most of the streaming community was pure toxic positivity cancer. There were a few cool folks of course, but there were just so many people who went out of their way to promote false images of positivity to the point of silliness. If I had a dime for every time I saw the phrase “Positive vibes only” used on Twitch or a streamer’s Twitter I’d have been able to buy out Tesla and SpaceX. If I had a dime for every time one of those same streamers later posted that they were “taking a break” because they were having mental health problems I’d be using Elon Musk as my personal footrest by now. The amount of “positive vibes” always correlated with the amount of mental health problems the streamer had, without fail. They thought that their problems would magically disappear if they lied to themselves, so they cultivated these massively fake personalities and burnt themselves out even faster by trying to uphold them, all the while chastising people like me for being too negative. The fact that the pissed off guy calling himself Angry_Jerk and making shitposts is more levelheaded and mentally stable than the people promoting positivity speaks volumes about the state of the internet, and the world at large. People have emotions, retard. You’re lying to me, you’re lying to your viewers, you’re lying to yourself. Stop lying.

It’s gotten to the point where even the websites themselves are burying or hiding anything that borders on critical. Ever wonder why YouTube comments always seem to be overwhelmingly positive and stop just short of begging the channel to blow a fat load into their mouth? That’s because YouTube has a filter that catches “potentially toxic” comments and holds them for manual review. No, YouTube doesn’t notify you about the pending comments. No, you can’t turn this feature off. Thank you YouTube for keeping me safe from criticism and rude words. All these haters, I literally can’t even.

Sure, the internet is a cesspool of trolls and shit-flinging retards who never have anything nice to say, but we’re starting to overcorrect. If you’re so thin-skinned that you need to lock yourself in a hugbox protected by toxic comment filters to keep from having a nervous breakdown, then you don’t belong on the internet. You also don’t belong in society. You think you’re the only one with problems? Nigga, everyone’s got shit going on. I’ve got plenty of problems, but you don’t see me demanding that I be sheltered from them.

It’s time to stop catering to these pussies. The world shouldn’t be expected to change itself to protect a bunch of mentally ill crybabies who can’t cope with criticism, and I’m sure as hell not going to bend over backwards to appease these people. Nobody cares if you have PTSD, nobody cares if your feelings are hurt, stop being a little bitch about everything and grow the hell up.
