REDDIT REVUE: r/AntiWork (2025)

It’s time to pay another visit to r/AntiWork in this month’s Reddit Revue!

We’re moving!

No, not the website. I’m talking about the company I own (well, co-own).

I’m writing this on August 18th. By the time this publishes, on August 27th, our company will have already relocated to our new base of operations in New Jersey and be in the process of setting up. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t kind of excited. We’ve upgraded from two adjacent 2,500 square foot offices to a single 10,000 square office. This new complex has all kinds of amenities for tenants, like a gym, a full-service cafeteria that serves food, and an actual reception desk staffed by actual people who will actually direct our clients to our office. The downside is that our yearly rent is about the cost of a new house. That, and we’re in New Jersey. An article about what I actually do for a living is coming next week, and that’ll go into more detail about things.

Anyway, in honor of the move, I’ve decided that for this month’s Reddit Revue we’ll be revisiting r/AntiWork. A couple people have requested a follow-up to our original visit back in February of last year, and I’d be lying if I said I also didn’t want to do a follow-up. I’ve made my stance on working hard quite clear, and I completely understand why this generation doesn’t want to work, but some of the complaints I saw on r/AntiWork were just silly or downright bogus. Take this picture for example:

This one was taken completely out of context. The lady in this picture was actually the franchisee of this Chick-fil-A and came up on her day off to run numbers or something, and while she was there helped a customer look up a catering order. Redditors love to complain, even if it means intentionally taking something out of context.

Anyway, here’s a bunch of screenshots from r/AntiWork. Here at the Reddit Revue, we never take anything out of context at all. Ever.

How can MAGA be communists if they’re supposedly fascists? That’s literally two polar opposite sides of the political spectrum.

Did you know that you can actually turn down jobs if they don’t meet your salary requirements? Mind blown.

Wait until this person learns that you can even negotiate salaries with potential employers too!

Don’t ever let them tell you that your liberal arts degree is useless.

Boomer my ass, Captain Aryan here’s like 30 at the most.

Oh yeah? Tell that to all the starving artists and writers who lost their jobs to AI, you ableist fuck.

The appropriate response to this question is “a woman”. 360 turn, moonwalk out of the interview.

Bro it’s a job at fucking Wendy’s, $12 an hour is more than realistic.

Person B can go fuck themselves. It’s a dog-eat-dog world and I’m hungry nigga.

Everyone who gave me shit for dropping out of community college, who’s laughing now?

Stop complaining and get back to picking my fruit, Jose.

Surely this will lead to the communist utopia promised to us by Karl Marx.

Communism will finally work this time guys, we promise!

Conveniently left out what the job he interviewed for was.

Also ignored all requests to clarify what the job was. Unless I missed something.

Would you be okay with it if your coworker was black? Asking for a friend, who isn’t being racist or anything.

Ngl, 2019 AJ would have done this.

Gen Z literally can’t even

tl;dr

@Grok, is this story real?

Guess Mussolini’s still running Italy

Woah dude, there’s no need to be racist.

You’ll get your $165,000 a year when you can finally make a phone keyboard that doesn’t suck huge dicks.

Luigi doesn’t have access to Reddit, but a valiant effort.

You should have seen my last job’s reaction when I showed them I had been collecting evidence that they were committing billing fraud in the millions of dollars. Story drops next month.

A world without bosses, a world without law enforcement to protect you, a world without most modern conveniences.

I remember thinking anarchy was cool too back when I was 15.

Yeah, being exploited by greedy employers sucks. I’d rather be exploited by greedy unions instead.

I didn’t realize that Oakland County was part of Israel.

It’s just an isolated incident. Now shut up and give us a copy of your driver’s license and pictures of your face for age verification purposes.

If anyone smiles like this while they’re hugging me, I’m calling the police.

If this was true, my Amazon stock wouldn’t be worth $230 a share right now.

It doesn’t take an economist to see that online shopping is what’s killing brick and mortar. That, and having everything locked up and having to wait 20+ minutes for an employee to come with the key because the store is understaffed.

You’re worried about your face being out there, but you still have no problem taking a selfie and uploading it to some search engine?

Leave Drew Carey and The Vogues out of your commie bullshit.

You’re an 18 year old girl. You’re quite literally sitting on a gold mine.

How hard is it to just not care? Jesus fucking Christ.

Certainly not from their Reddit history.

Just don’t show up. It’s not like Burger King or McDonald’s is going to put you on a state registry or something.

Er, actually, disregard my last comment.

My man Dredkinetic gets it!

Tell Manager A that Manager B was talking some shit. Do the same with Manager B. When the dust settles, step in and strike down the winner while he’s still tired from the fight. Now you’re the new manager.

My man Dredkinetic gotchu

This looks less like an Uber driver strike and more like a Hezbollah meeting.

Your username is Negan and you can’t figure out how to deal with someone screaming at you?

I hope that influencers rot too, but it has nothing to do with remote work.

Wait those man points that the guys at my last job always talked about were a real thing?

Fuck.

Insert reference to Chris Farley’s “in a van down by the river” bit from SNL.

Can’t relate.

Your “jewelry” looks like it was made in an arts and crafts club for special needs kids.

Oi guvna, you got a loisence for that job?

You’re right, I’m done, fuck writing for this gay ass website, I quit.

As someone who runs a management/policy consultation firm, and as someone who spent 20 years working shit jobs, I’ll be the first to say that there’s a lot of bullshit that goes on in the work place and with jobs. I’m not disputing that (in fact, I’m in a position where I can even kind of push to change some of that). I get why this generation is frustrated with the job market, and some of the games I see employers play with interviewees should be illegal.

But most of the problems I see on subs like r/AntiWork could easily be resolved with a little backbone. This generation doesn’t seem like they can handle confrontation too well, which is funny when you consider how angry and outraged they always are. “My boss screamed at me and now I don’t know what to do!” Um, try standing the fuck up for yourself? Every time I’ve had a boss scream at me I’ve had zero qualms about telling them to fuck off. You’re a grown adult, don’t let anyone treat you like a kid. Draw lines, and make repercussions for those who cross them.

I guess at the end of the day, it’s easier to be a whiny little bitch online than it is to assert yourself against a bully face-to-face.

Anyway, next month’s Reddit Revue will probably be r/Comics, which looks like a poorly drawn political dumpster fire.
