We’re Raising a Generation That Can’t Handle Reality

Students sit in a classroom facing a teacher at the front of the room while a dark overlay displays the headline “We’re Raising a Generation That Can’t Handle Reality” alongside an AJnet Editorial byline for Joseph “J.R.” Heston.

J.R. Heston has spent nearly twenty years teaching in Philadelphia classrooms, and he says the situation is getting worse fast. From violent students to social media addiction and parents who refuse to hold their kids accountable, Heston argues that schools are producing a generation completely unprepared for the real world.

Reddit Revue – r/unpopularopinion

Reddit Revue title card for r/unpopularopinion featuring an orange circus tent behind a laptop displaying the Reddit interface. Speech bubbles contain exaggerated “unpopular opinions” including “MGK won the beef vs eminem,” “waffle house is better than ihop,” and “Back to the Future is the one big movie they SHOULD do a remake of.” The subtitle reads: “Step right up and witness the internet’s finest idiots.”

We went into r/unpopularopinion expecting deranged hot takes and internet warfare. What we found instead was a strange mix of lukewarm food opinions, terminally online morality debates, and people confidently arguing things that would get them laughed out of a real-world conversation.
